To start the process:

Simply contact me with your commission information at Jenna@JennaLueckArt.com or 563.590.7923.
Here are a few things to consider:

➡ What would you like a painting of?
➡ Approximately how big would you like your painting? (There is plenty of time to measure and change this!)
➡ Do you have any thoughts on sky colors?  Summer colors?  Fall colors?
➡ Do you have any questions about the process?

Original photo that was submitted for the commission painting at the top of the page. Multiple photos were submitted, and I worked with the customer to pick this view of the farm as the best for her painting.

The final mockup that was approved for painting to begin. Through collaboration with my client, some small changes were made along the way to make her farm stand out even more and add some extra personal touches.

A Detailed Overview:

☑️ I will collaborate with you, gather some information, get a feel for what you have in mind and give you some generalized prices.

☑️ Commission paintings generally fall into one of three categories and are priced per square inch based on each category:

➡ Landscape Paintings – the hills, valleys and scenery you see as you look into the distance as you are driving.  These will have some buildings, but they are not close up or highly detailed.

➡ Skyscape Paintings – bright, bold and beautiful skies – some will have silhouetted buildings or scenes, others will be mixed with landscapes.

➡ Farmscape Paintings – your farm or a family farm – up close and personal.  Sometimes your farm buildings are big, sometimes only an inch tall, either way, the focus of this painting is YOUR farm, front and center.  Buildings will be as exact as possible.  You will have small touches and extra detail that mean the world to you because this is where you grew up, where you visited your grandparents or the farm you built.  This farm is in your heart, and you want to have a beautiful piece of it forever!

☑️ Based on our conversation, you give me an approximate (or exact) painting size that you are interested in along with a photo or photos that you would like the painting to be created from.

☑️ To reserve your spot on my commission painting list, I require a $100 deposit – I sometimes book commission paintings out 6 months to a year in advance.

☑️ I will create computer-generated mockups for you.

➡ These mockups can be in multiple sizes so you can get a feel for what your image would look like painted at different sizes.

➡ Mockups can swap out different things – if you don’t like the sky in your photo, I can give you different sky options in your mockups.

➡ Mockups can merge 2 or 3 photos into one!

➡ Mockups can show you summer colors vs fall colors.

➡ Mockups can be changed as few or as many times as you would like before we finalize a mockup to paint from.

➡ The goal of the mockup is to give you a very solid idea of what your final painting can & will look like and also give me a very detailed image to paint from.  Mockups take most of the guess-work out of the commission painting process.  You know what to expect your painting to look like and I know what you would like me to paint :D

➡ The mockup is not meant to be an exact replica of what your painting will be, but a solid base for me to work from.  Blues will be blue in the painting, browns will be brown, they layout of the land will be extremely close, etc.

☑️ Once we finalize a mockup, I will create an official contract showing the final mockup for both of us to sign.

☑️ A signed contract and 33% down (minus your $100 deposit) will be required before painting begins – I will not ask for the down payment until I am ready to start your painting. (Payment schedule is 33% for painting to start, 33% when painting is halfway completed, remainder due at shipping date/pickup/delivery.)

☑️ As the painting progresses, I will regularly send progress photos to you.  You will have opportunities along the way to approve parts of the painting, make minor changes, etc.

☑️ Paintings regularly take a few months from start to completion.  Depending on my show schedule, sometimes longer.  Please don’t be alarmed if your painting takes a while once it is started.  I can give you an accurate completion date even though the painting process isn’t fast.  I give you my heartfelt promise that I work diligently to meet my completion dates.

☑️ Once I feel the painting is completed, I send pictures of it to you for final approval.  This is your chance to make minor changes before clear coat is added.  If you are close by, you have the option to come to my studio to see the final painting and approve it.  You can also stop in anytime during the creation process!

☑️ After you give me your approval, your painting will be signed and sprayed with a clear coat.  (No changes can be made after clear coat is added.)  After it has had ample drying time, I can either ship it to you or we can make arrangements to meet.

☑️ You get to unwrap your final painting and brighten your home!  Photos will never do a painting justice – there is something about being there in the moment and witnessing its full glory.   Your commission painting is a statement piece that will be cherished and bring joy for years to come.
